Opening Check-Off & Sort
In the left sidebar, click Check-Off & Sort. The page loads in a focused two-column layout: the scanner panel on the left and the session history log on the right. The Scanner Input Field
The barcode input field in the top-left panel is always active. You do not need to click it before scanning.- USB barcode scanner
- Manual entry
Point your scanner at the package barcode and pull the trigger. The scanner types the tracking number into the field and submits it automatically. No keyboard interaction is needed.
The input field re-focuses automatically after every scan — including after errors — so you can scan the next package immediately without touching the keyboard or mouse.
Scanning Workflow
1
Open Check-Off & Sort
Navigate to Check-Off & Sort in the sidebar. The scanner field is ready and focused.
2
Scan the first package
Scan or type the barcode on the parcel. The system looks up the tracking number and returns the result within seconds.
3
Read the result card
A result card appears on the left panel showing:
- Route To — the branch name where the package should be placed (displayed prominently in large text)
- Customer name and account number
- Label Name — the name printed on the package label
- Local tracking number and shipper tracking number
- Weight and item description
4
Route the package
Place the package in the bin or area corresponding to the branch shown on the result card.
5
Scan the next package
The input field is already focused. Scan the next barcode. The result card updates instantly and the previous scan moves into the session history log on the right.
6
Continue until the manifest is complete
Work through the entire manifest. Each scan adds one entry to the session log. The log header shows the running count of items scanned in the current session.
Scan Results: Success vs. Not Found
Successful scan
The result card appears with a green header labelled “Success”. The branch name, customer details, and package information are displayed. If voice is enabled, the branch name is read aloud.
Name mismatch alert
A red header labelled “Name Mismatch Alert” appears. This means the name on the package label does not match the customer’s registered name on the account. Set the package aside for supervisor review before routing.
Package not found
A red error banner appears below the scanner field with the message “Package not found or already checked off.” This can mean the tracking number is not in the system, it belongs to a different facility, or it has already been scanned in a previous session. Verify the barcode and re-scan. If the problem persists, check the Packages list or contact your supervisor.
Voice Feedback
The voice toggle in the top-right control bar lets you enable spoken routing instructions — useful in noisy warehouse environments where you cannot always look at the screen.- On — after each successful scan, the system reads the branch name aloud (e.g. “Kingston”). On a name mismatch, it announces “Warning. Name mismatch.” followed by the branch name so you still know where to route the package.
- Off — no audio is played.
Session History Log
The right-hand panel maintains a live log of every package scanned since the session started.- The most recent scan is always at the top and highlighted with a purple border.
- Each entry shows the customer name, account number, package label name, shipper tracking number, the routed branch, and the time of scan.
- A sequential counter on the left of each row lets you quickly spot duplicate scans or gaps in the manifest.
- The Items badge in the log header updates in real time with the running total.
Clearing the Session
The Clear button (bin icon) in the top-right control bar wipes the entire session history and resets the result card. When you click Clear, the browser asks you to confirm. Click OK to proceed or Cancel to go back.Tips for Efficient Scanning
Keep the browser window in focus
Keep the browser window in focus
The scanner input only accepts keystrokes when the Check-Off & Sort browser tab is active and in the foreground. If your scanner stops responding, click anywhere on the page (outside a button or link) to restore focus to the input field.
Work from one side of the manifest
Work from one side of the manifest
Sort your incoming parcels into a single physical queue before scanning. Scan each package exactly once and move it immediately to the correct routing bin. This prevents double-scans and keeps the session log accurate.
Monitor the mismatch rate
Monitor the mismatch rate
A high volume of Name Mismatch alerts may indicate that customers are shipping to the facility under a name that differs from their registered account (a family member’s name, a nickname, etc.). Flag these customers for a profile update so future deliveries match automatically.
Use a dedicated scanning device
Use a dedicated scanning device
For high-volume days, dedicate one workstation exclusively to Check-Off & Sort. Because the page auto-focuses the input, no other browser tabs or applications should compete for keyboard input on that machine.
Reset between manifests
Reset between manifests
Clear the session at the end of each manifest or shipment arrival, not at the end of the day. This way, each session log corresponds to one manifest and the item count is meaningful for reconciliation.
